Docutainment Films is a Florida based documentary production company founded by award-winning filmmaker Ron Davis. In 2008, Ron co-directed and co-produced PAGEANT (2009), a feature length documentary that follows the lives of five female impersonators as they vie for the crown at the 34th annual Miss Gay America Pageant. The critically acclaimed film was awarded seven Audience Awards and three Grand Jury Awards for Best Documentary, including New York's New Fest and San Francisco's Frameline. In 2009, PAGEANT made its theatrical debut at New York City's Cinema Village theater and its 2010 television premiere on The Sundance Channel.
During 2011 and 2012, Ron directed and produced his second film, the HBO Original Documentary Film MISS YOU CAN DO IT. The film chronicled Abbey Curran, Miss Iowa USA 2008 and the first woman with a disability to compete at the Miss USA Pageant, and eight girls with various disabilities as the girls participate in the Miss You Can Do It Pageant. The documentary aired on HBO in 2013.
Ron premiered his current feature documentary HARRY & SNOWMAN at the 2015 Full Frame Documentary Film Festival to rave reviews. The film has garnered nine Best Documentary Audience Awards on the 2015 film festival circuit and was released to critical and box office acclaim in September 2016.
Docutainment Films is currently in development on LIFE IN THE DOGHOUSE, a feature documentary about Danny & Ron's Rescue, which has saved the lives of more than 10,000 dogs and changed the way the world looks at recuse dogs. Ron is also is also in pre-production on AN INFINITE MIND, which explores the lives of individuals with dissociative identity disorder, a condition previously known as multiple personality disorder.
Nancy's work in film has been in the arenas of production and archival research. Her films have appeared on HBO, The Discovery Channel, the History Channel and NBC Specials. Among her credits are MISS YOU CAN DO IT (HBO); Oscar Nominated documentary GOD IS THE BIGGER ELVIS (HBO), THE PRESIDENT'S GATEKEEPERS (The Discovery Channel); REMEMBERING THE ARTIST: ROBERT DE NIRO SENIOR (HBO); Peabody Award-winning documentary THE NEWBURGH STING (HBO); HARRY AND SNOWMAN; and more recently, HBO “BRILLO BOX, THREE CENTS OFF”. Current projects include a music-driven documentary, a civil rights case and LIFE IN THE DOGHOUSE and AN INFINITE MIND for Docutainment Films.
Clay filmed the Emmy® winning documentary THE LEGEND OF PANCHO BARNES and THE HAPPY BOTTOM RIDING CLUB, as well as the Grammy® nominated JOHNNY CASH'S AMERICA. Clay was director of photography and producer on HARRY & SNOWMAN, MISS YOU CAN DO IT and PAGEANT.
